Due to her deafness since birth, Fingers has an ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), can read lips and speak well.
Fingers began pirating in 2016 with The Defiant Crew based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Fingers is active in volunteering at Watermen’s Museum in Yorktown, VA with various local events and Families to Families with events for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing children in Norfolk, VA. She supported charitable events, including fundraising for American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Special Olympics, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Why is she called “Fingers?” She uses her hands and fingers to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL), sewed pirate clothing by hand using 18th century sewing techniques, and doing knot tying demonstrations.
When not pirating, she is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
